Stuart Moody is Trainer in the Mindful Ambassadors program at the University of Arizona, a program that he co-founded with the director of Counseling & Psych Services. He has been a key leader of Green Sangha, a mindfulness-based environmental group in the SF Bay Area, since 2005.

Stuart received a BS in Conservation of Natural Resources at UC Berkeley and an MA in counseling psychology at the University of San Francisco. In 2004, he joined Green Sangha and became active promoting recycled paper and organizing habitat restoration projects.

In 2005, Stuart initiated the Rethinking Plastics campaign of Green Sangha. Major accomplishments of this collaborative campaign include the saving of over 8 tons of plastic produce bags from local markets every year, the elimination of foam food ware from a popular Farmers' Market, the passage of three single-use plastic bag bans in Marin County, and three foam food ware ordinances. He also served on the Education team of San Rafael Clean, the Zero Waste Citizens’ Advisory Committee for Marin, and the planning committee for the Marin County Fair.

Stuart was Green Schoolyard Coordinator at Davidson Middle School in San Rafael, coordinating thousands of hours of community volunteer efforts: planting dozens of native, shade, and fruit trees, tending the school Garden and wetland with students and members of the Conservation Corps North Bay, and convening a committee whose efforts dramatically reduced litter on campus.

Stuart has taught yoga for over 35 years, including a program that reached over 400 inmates at San Quentin in the 1980’s. He teaches movement and dance in schools and community venues, for people of all ages. In the Bay Area, he led professional development through local teacher colleges and Young Imaginations, a multicultural arts education agency.
