I've been a food writer since the 1980s, with a passion for artisan cuisine and wine, in particular local dishes made with organic, sustainable ingredients. I love living in the Bay Area, which to me is the U.S.'s most dynamic place to explore the world of cuisine. To write about gastronomy here is to talk about the cutting edge of what chefs, growers, and fellow diners, are experimenting with. Whether it's small plates, cocktails, desserts or food concepts, the Bay Area is THE place to be, especially the North Bay.
