When ICE Homeland Security Investigations special agents searched Jose Alberto Centurion-Cruz's Sunnyvale residence, they say they found more than 100 sexually explicit videos of minors on his laptop computer and other digital media.
Bob April 15, 2014 at 07:48 am
When this guy was released did they really think he was going to show up for his hearing? He isRead More probably back in his home country but with all the sanctuary cities around, he could be living among us.
novato 3per April 15, 2014 at 08:53 am
We have a lot more people yet to wake up.
Jerome J Ghigliotti Jr April 15, 2014 at 01:24 pm
Because Jose Alberto Centurion-Cruz, aka Jose Alberto Cruz is already in the ICE data base, he hasRead More probably already been convicted of another crime and deported. But he just came here to improve his life, so we should excuse all of his crimes. Do you want to know something funny? Our border with Canada is more tightly guarded and enforced that is our southern border. Television interview, it takes a woman 2 hours to clear border/customs to visit her uncle across the Canadian border about 500 feet from where she lives. You are correct. We have A LOT of people to wake up. As I told the City Council, you will not wake up until it is your daughter or your grand daughter who is the victim. Remember, illegal aliens vote for only one party, and they do vote.

SR has become a very dangerous town to live in! It has been going "down" for years!Read More Probably due to all the drugs floating around SR!

It amazes me how strong a frame house like this can be. You'd think an oak tree trunk this largeRead More would just crash completely through the house.

You'd hopefully be singing a different tune if your life or those any of your family members orRead More friends are saved by these firefighters who you think are nothing special. Without the SRFD, two family members of mine would not be alive today. A couple of years ago, one of my co-workers went into firehouse in San Rafael when she was having chest pains. Turned out she was in the initial stages of a heart attack. The firefighters there saved her life, too. HELL YEAH, I think firefighters, paramedics & police officers are extraordinary public employees. They put their own lives on the line for us every day. I hope you never have an medical, fire or other emergency, Michael, but if you do, perhaps you should call a street sweeper instead of 911.
Don Dressel April 9, 2014 at 01:35 am
congratulations guys! My dad retired on the san rafael fire department in 1984.
Michael April 10, 2014 at 01:41 pm
JD Harris you either did not read my post or only read into it what you wanted to read. This partRead More specifically spoke of my respect for and the need for fire fighters. "we need police and firefighters just like we need street sweepers, electric line repair persons, restaurant workers, administrators, school teachers, sales people, ditch diggers etc. I respect people who want to be firefighters just like I respect all people no matter what kind of a job they do." You completely missed my main point. So be it. Fire staff are no more special than any other job no matter how some claim. But we live in a world where many want to be considered as 'special'. So be it. If I ever need the assistance of the fire or police I EXPECT them to help me. That is what we pay them to do. That is the job they applied for and took (I assume they take the jobs with their own free will and are not coerced) and that is the job most of them love and WANT to do. And yes I respect them. Jeeze.

What am I missing... "A few hours later, a body was found" Who was this?
markrpope April 2, 2014 at 08:32 am
First, good thing he didn't kill someone. Second, that's why most states much poorer that CaliforniaRead More install guard rails.
NovatoRes April 2, 2014 at 12:00 pm
The fact that he had a condition that would make him susceptible to disorientation is a huge riskRead More factor for driving - especially someone his age. Hopefully this will move more to have "the talk" with aging family members that its time to retire the car keys. If not for their sake, for the sake of others on the road. My condolences to the family.
Rick Voorhees April 2, 2014 at 08:58 am
I'm going to make sure I'm not near you Craig when I drive... I hate to tell ya your wrong on thisRead More issue..Cell phones are the new hazards of the road now. There are some bad drivers but when you have a bad driver texting or talking you have yourself a hazard on the road period....As far as eating, brushing your teeth well that's just as bad....
Al Nymous April 2, 2014 at 09:30 am
....And the state is cashing in on all the citations for cell phones when the real problem isRead More distracted driving. So, how long do we allow the arm of the law to reach into your life? If law is written that distracted driving is a violation, then that gives an officer infinite reasons to pull you over.
Rick Voorhees April 2, 2014 at 09:49 am
Hey, the moral of the story is focus on driving the freaking car and pay attention so you aren'tRead More distracted. Then you don't have to worry about the cops.. Common sense here...
Phil Shea March 30, 2014 at 10:58 pm
@unclemookie: I think it's NRA's gift basket for this year. They're calling it Box 'o Gun. RetailRead More price: your second grade child and one year subscription.

The real question is why are they removing trees!?! I don't care what kind they are. We need everyRead More tree out there. Btw, CalTrans needs to replace all the trees they killed along the roadway here in Novato when putting in the extra lanes. You can still see them , tall beautiful trees... Dead.

That is wallet and credit card theft, not "identity theft" which happens in computers.
Concerned Citizen March 30, 2014 at 09:53 am
Lou correct. Identity theft is way more insidious. those that destroy other peoples lives should beRead More made to make their victims whole. It is time for a little practical "eye for an eye" justice. Imagine when they find out it will take 10 years at minimum wage on a road gang or whatever else criminals should be doing to pay society back for their misdeeds instead of being released early for overcrowding bcause there are no real consequences for breaking the law.
Jerome J Ghigliotti Jr March 30, 2014 at 03:12 pm
Is it really a criminal offense if someone is so stupid as to leave their wallet in their car? WeRead More do have pockets in clothing now. I did not read anything about the car window being broken either.

If this was a dead , barely legal 19 year old girl at the hands of her almost pedophileRead More "lover" nearly 3 times her age I think the story would be generating more controversy. Is it just dismissed because its a gay thing?
novato 3per April 9, 2014 at 04:54 pm
Angela , looks like your comment is deleted. Sorry about the loss of your friend.

Why didn't Target ask for a second piece of ID on such an expensive purchase?? Actually for anyRead More purchase using a credit card, another ID should be required.
The term "shoulder tap" refers to the method used by minors to illegally obtain alcohol. Patch file photo.

I am very happy this has happened, and am encouraged that this is getting attention. Can you tell usRead More the locations, or stores in San Rafael?

our elected officials continue their totally failed war on drugs because it is such a big moneyRead More maker for all of them. Most drugs need to be decriminalized and many need to be made legal. The failed policies by our government are directly to blame for the out of control problems with drugs. Our controlling lawmakers think they can control drug use through laws. THEY HAVE BEEN PROVEN WRONG AT EVERY TURN YET THEY CONTINUE WITH THE SAME POLICIES. That is called insanity but the game they play is with our money. They have created huge government to waste money on. All a failure yet they continue. We must find a way to take back control from the now many in politics who continue to flat our lie to us all in the name of protecting us from ourselves. Insanity? YES! Feinstein's comments yesterday regarding her personal concern about legalizing marijuana tell us all we need to know about an out of touch old guard government. I don't care what Feinstein thinks and we need to get rid of all of the politicians like her who enrich themselves at taxpayer expense while working on their own agenda. And you can't blame just old men as CA has been represented by mostly women for some time now. Different sex... same out of touch manipulating focus. Change is coming.
Jerome J Ghigliotti Jr March 23, 2014 at 11:24 am
There was nothing "broken" about our immigration laws when LBJ threw all of them out, withRead More the bath water. The Bracero program provided needed agricultural workers, and it worked from 1945 to 1964. The US still makes legal immigrants of through five years of hoops, while anyone who sneaks in gets a "Get-Out-Of-Jail-Free" pass. Anyone and everyone who entered illegally should be returned to their country of origin. Asylum is afforded to anyone who fears return to their country of origin; that applies to 98% of the world's population, including imported criminals. There are more exceptions than rules. And do not speak out or the political correctness police will arrest YOU.
Dave Jones March 21, 2014 at 07:43 am
Ever since moving here in 2010, I have wondered why Californians have such little respect for theRead More earth so many vehemently fight to "protect." California highways are some of the trashiest I have ever driven on.
novato 3per March 21, 2014 at 08:04 am
California has a large population of foreigners who give a rat's ass about the beauty of our land,Read More they are only here to take benefits and send send tax free income to their home country. California also has liberal policies that create irresponsible selfish people. I'm all in favor of steeper penalties and better enforcement of litter laws.

Lotsa rescuing in the news lately...
Jerome J Ghigliotti Jr March 12, 2014 at 07:53 am
Thank you to the Park Service, Coast Guard, and CHP rescuers because we all have a more secure lifeRead More knowing that they are there for us when we would need them most, not just in the ocean, but on the trails, mountains, and roads; whatever our emergency.
Jerome J Ghigliotti Jr March 12, 2014 at 07:57 am
Still? No Police Blotter. Has George Orwell taken over records at the Novato Police Department andRead More reserved dispatches are now covered by Newspeak laws that forbid online newspapers from reporting the news? It seems so. Remember, YOU elected them. I did not. Read "Nineteen Eighty Four". It is now a history book.

Death row = 25+ years of special privilege and huge costs. why even have if they wait for them toRead More die of old age?
Jerome J Ghigliotti Jr March 7, 2014 at 05:40 pm
On Death Row 26 years because "activist" judges in California are against the deathRead More penalty regardless of the laws of California and the repeated will and voting of the citizens. Who is there to protect us if the courts refuse to do so? MBFH!
