San Rafael City Council Meeting

When: 7 p.m.

Where:  City Council Chambers (1400 Fifth Avenue)

Regularly scheduled meetings are held the first and third Mondays of each month.

 

San Anselmo Planning Commission Meeting

When: 7 p.m.

Where: Town Council Chambers (525 San Anselmo Ave.)

Regularly scheduled meeting.

 

Tuesday

Middle School Essay Contest

When: 7 a.m.

Where: Elks Lodge (1312 Mission Avenue, San Rafael)

Download an entry form Elks 1108 and submit no later than January 8th for a chance to win prizes.  Marin County winners go on to district and national levels for more prizes and winners. All middle schoolers (fifth to eighth grade) are invited to participate.

 

Wednesday

Hollywood Home Movies

When: 7 p.m.

Where: Christopher B. Smith Rafael Film Center (1118 Fourth St.)

This event is presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in association with the California Film Institute. Rarely screened footage culled by the Academy Film Archive from the private collections of Hollywood stars and directors will be shown.

 

Thursday

Opening Reception: Portraits

When: 5 p.m.

Where: Artist Within, A Cedars Gallery (603 San Anselmo Avenue)

Artist Within is presented by The Cedars of Marin. The Cedars of Marin supports artists, weavers, and craftspeople with developmental disabilities to explore their creative inspirations and master new skills.

 

Friday

Mayflower Chorus presents "Jazz Hot and Cool"

When: 8 p.m.

Where: Marin Center Showcase Theatre, 10 Avenue of the Flags
