From the National Snow and Ice Date Center concerning Arctic ice--"The retention of more sea ice in September 2013 has increased the overall thickness and volume of the ice pack compared to recent years. Antarctic sea ice remains significantly more extensive than average."

I fail to understand either the mystery or the naysayers on this issue. If human activity is POSSIBLY responsible for even a SHRED of this trend, why would we not take action? If a child gets killed by a speeding car at an intersection, hordes of people clamor for a new stoplight, tighter enforcement, etc. Yet here, thousands of scientists across the globe say we are contributing, and the same folks say, "Ah, no, nothing to worry about." And, in case you missed tonight's news, Arctic ice IS disappearing, not only influencing the Jet Stream, but also reducing the refraction propensity. Thus, the earth gets warmer, weather gets distorted. No snowfall in the West; recordbreaking snowfall in the East. No clues in that?

Seems like the same winters we had in NY when I was a kid in the 60's. Isnt that what WINTER does? SNOW!!!
Deep Throat February 17, 2014 at 09:03 PM
How about we live in the north and when we have moisture it snows. If it was April and it rained every 3 days we would say April showers. Same thing here but when it's cold it SNOWS. Enough already

Yeah, it's called "Winter"... Google it sometime. We have had such mild Winters over the past years, that when it reminds us that Mother Nature is in charge and decides to dump a few feet of Global Warming as a reminder, the AlGorites act liker Chicken Little, and blame Mankind for the snow. BTW, they now also blame Mankind for rain, drought, fog, heat, cold, tornadoes, hurricanes, and earthquakes.

This was absurd nonsense was published yesterday: Dr. John Holdren — President Obama’s Science and Technology advisor — Holdren acknowledged that “there will be continuing debate about exactly what is happening,” but concluded: "I believe the odds are that we can expect, as a result of global warming, to see more of this pattern of extreme cold in the mid-latitudes". Ya, know, the phenomenon of climate change has been going on from day one. I am sure we have contributed to ecological manifestations but clearly it is over stated and hysterical based and the green mongers that are profiting from this (like Al Gore) make me puke.

Fishing for a few Million to study the snow !!!

LETS CUT TO THE CHASE. THE FACTS: The predictions of warming for the future are based on the same computer models. 1) All the models, multiplied the co2 level by three for water vapor. There is no empirical evidence for the water vapor. Now that 98% of possible variations are proven wrong with the benefit of time and temperature gathering, it blows the whole theory apart.
Fortified- AKA Carlos Danger February 18, 2014 at 02:44 AM
2) On average temperatures rose 800 years before a rise in carbon.....re-read that, because the cause and effect are reversed. SO WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
Fortified- AKA Carlos Danger February 18, 2014 at 02:44 AM
It means humans are probably responsible for about 20-30% of any warming. THE REST? The little ice age ended before the industrial revolution. Temps have been rising for about 300 years. Sun, Earth wobble, volcanoes sea current, and many other things are involved. The Sun is probably the main driver. The sun went into the "Maunder minimum" that coincided with the low of the little ice age. It also peaked with the temp peak around 1998. The sun has fairly dramatically reduced the flair output, since then....just as out temps have gone nowhere since then. The hardest thing for believers and anyone to deal with is how can all of science be so wrong. Well, its not "all science" The IPCC was set up by governments for the sole purpose of making up what if scenarios for global warming. They were never given the job of proving anything one way or another...just scary what ifs. Read the reports and the wording becomes clear. It is not scientific. It is just scary scenarios. A few key players early one got in with most of the publications, and scientific groups. No one bothered to follow the data. Most started work based on assumptions of the computer models, and data that was refused to see the light of day, and "lost". Lastly, people that do speak out are castigated. ALL government money is spent proving global warming. The amount is about 3,000 to one. For a very clear, fairly brief look at this: ( http://jonova.s3.amazonaws.com/sh1/the_skeptics_handbook_2-3
Fortified- AKA Carlos Danger February 18, 2014 at 02:52 AM
So, the computer models are now proven wrong. The 3x feedback for water vapor was a guess. Period. That alone is all one needs to know to blow it up. Besides....we have a better chance of entering a little ice age right now ( http://www.cbn.com/cbnnews/healthscience/2014/January/Cover-Up-Mounting-Evidence-Belies-Global-Warming/ ) AND THIS ONE: ( http://iceagenow.info/ )

But wait....there's more! "Stop the madness" :-o ( http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2541599/Is-mini-ice-age-way-Scientists-warn-Sun-gone-sleep-say-cause-temperatures-plunge.html ) ;-o

The global warming crowd wants to condem those who question the science while at the same time want to ignore what is happening outside their own window. The storm of 2/5/14 it was snowing in Boston at 0 degrees. First time that has happened in over 100 yrs. If one is hellbent on pushing their GW agenda maybe give it a vacation for now and try again come july.

just mother earth doing here thing.. I remember winter's like this in the 60's also 1993/1994 had a very harsh winter..as was the winter of 1978 when I moved to Cortlandt.. it snow every other day.. delayed my move.. its Called Winter folks...
jo February 18, 2014 at 08:55 AM
mother earth doing her thing..letting us know how "small" we are.. We had winters like this back in the 60's. 1978 when I moved to Cortlandt was a horror too..snow storm after snow storm.. and winter 1993/ 1994 was no picnic either.. we have either grown soft or have lost our memories..
Jed February 18, 2014 at 09:03 AM
One of The Weather Channel's founding fathers is John Coleman who is now "the old weather guy" on KUSI San Diego. He was a Chicago ABC meteorologist prior to that. In any case he severed his relationship with The Weather Channel because they bought into the GW insanity and promote the craziness. Ya it's called winter and summer is summer and droughts happen, etc. And once again a lot of jerks have gotten mighty rich playing the game politically and in business. We are being played like a fiddle.

Carbon credits = derivatives for democrats

@Steve - Yes sir and they have the lame stream media assisting with the free publicity and hype from Hollywood "experts" who know nothing about anything outside of memorizing a line here and there.

Global warming or climate change or whatever the left is calling it these days is about the distribution of wealth. It is all about money and control. Climate change or global warming is on the same level as the search for Big Foot and the Abominable Snow-Man. Its just a theory that has not been proven, the story keeps changing daily to explain the cold, snow and drought that we are having throughout the country.
Steve Marino February 18, 2014 at 10:22 AM
Global cooling, the climate has been cooling and warming in cycles for billions of years, we are now in a cooling cycle. When the far left extremists where trying to convince us all that global warming was going to end life on this planet as we know it, they had to change their terminology to "climate change" due to the fact that the earth has been in a "cooling cycle" for the past 15 years! Now they are correct! Maybe now they want to do something to increase the temperatures on earth so that we don't all freeze to death. Wait for the new Al Gore movie about this, he made millions trying to convince his constituents that man made global warming was real, then went silent for years after enriching himself. Think of the millions he could make by telling the truth! But I must be wrong, Obama said global warming is real! Maybe if we wait a few decades, Obama will be correct!

A recent poll taken across the country had 73 percent of Americans not knowing that we are a capitalist democracy. Given this result, Americans can be convinced of just about any fairy tale our leaders want to bestow upon us. It happened in the last presidential election a multitude of times.
Fortified- AKA Carlos Danger February 18, 2014 at 12:52 PM
Kirk Lash said: "flat Earth" You are sure enough to throw in a jab, without substance. Let me ask, how are you sure AGW is real.
Steve Marino February 18, 2014 at 01:50 PM
I agree with Kirt Lash, anyone that could believe in man made global warming causing this cooling on our planet, could be made to believe that the earth is flat as well! There are millions that are told what to believe in this country, the truth seems to be irrelevant!
RAJ (Bo) McMerritt February 18, 2014 at 04:32 PM
global warming + global cooling = weather, thats whats causing it
