Cooper’s Public Market Soft Opening

First Locally Owned Sustainable Indoor Farmer's Market in Marin County Opens for Business!

We went to the soft opening of Cooper's Public Market on west Grant Avenue in Old Town Novato on Saturday.

Cooper's Public Market is a small family owned indoor farmers market with a passion and a mission to introduce sustainably farmed/raised local products (items that grow within 30 mile radius of Novato).

A small crowd of family, friends and locals were at the soft opening when Dennis and his enthusiastic and helpful son opened the store and turned on the OPEN sign.

The small store of just over 1,500 sf is low key, with country feel and exudes comfort and warmth, just as a home grocer should be.  Beautiful organic and lush produces currently occupy part of the store.  White Rose Ranch, a local award winning catering service specializing in home cooked, take out dinners also set up shop in the store.  A children's corner allows parents to leisurely shop and browse while keeping their kids occupied.  I observed Dennis patiently explaining things to a few young, curious shoppers.

I met Dennis Cooper very briefly at the Novato Relay for Life (for American Cancer Society) one year and was touched by his and his son's support for the cause.

The official store opening will be in March. Dennis hopes the store will also serve as a gathering place for neighbors and local artists.  I know we are all rooting for his success!
