Mickey Thomas and Starship to Rock the Marin County Fair Sunday

"We Built This City" is one of the hits Mickey Thomas recorded with Jefferson Starship in the 1980s.

American rock musician Mickey Thomas, who propelled Jefferson Starship to multiple hits in the 1980s and 1990s, will perform at the on Sunday afternoon.

Mickey Thomas has recorded many hits since he joined American rock group Jefferson Starship in April 1979. Jefferson Starship’s top songs include “We Built This City,” “Jane,” “No Way Out,” and the number one hit “Nothing Gonna Stop Us Now,” from the movie Mannequin. Another hit, “It’s Not Over Till It’s Over,” became Major League Baseball’s theme in 1987.

Thomas was the main vocalist of Jefferson Starship for most of the 1980s, until the original Jefferson Starship disbanded in 1991.

While former Jefferson Starship leader Paul Kanter reformed Jefferson Starship without Thomas in 1992, Thomas formed the touring group Starship featuring Mickey Thomas the same year.

"We built this City" has been consistently voted as one of the worst songs of all time. Horrible song, horrible.
