San Rafael's Head Planner to Retire

Bob Brown will bid adieu to the San Rafael Planning Department in early August.

Changes abound within the City of San Rafael.  New city manager, new public works director, new mayor/new council member coming and now, after 33 years of community planning, Planning Director Bob Brown will depart in early August.

He will be missed as will his style--competent, gracious, patient and customer-oriented.  All did not always agree with the many land use decisions that came out of his department, but you always felt you were treated fairly and got a hearing.   He trained many good young planners, who have gone on to have memorable careers and are still with the city.

We wish Bob well and think we will still see him around whenever there are green/sustainable topics to be discussed where he can be helpful.
