World Series Trophy Visits San Rafael Tomorrow

The San Francisco Giants 2010 World Series Trophy will be at the San Rafael Community Center tomorrow at 10:30 a.m.

Giants fans will show their support for the black and orange team as their 2010 World Series trophy makes its 29th stop at the B Street Community Center in San Rafael on Wednesday.

The trophy has been touring Northern California, Southern Oregon and Western Nevada with a few stops in New York City and Arizona since Jan. 4 to allow fans “to say thank you for 52 years of dedication…” San Rafael Events Coordinator Brian Auger said.

"We are honored they chose San Rafael for their Marin stop," he said. "We have a big Giants fan base."

The trophy will be on display at the on 618 B St. from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. There is no charge to see the trophy and entrance is on a first-come,-first-served basis.

Fans can pay to have professional photos taken of them posing with the trophy, and highlights of the tour will play as everyone waits in line. Big Jim's BBQ will be providing food.

There are two parking garages available on the corners of B and Third streets and A and Third streets for public use. There will be no parking at the community center or the adjacent Safeway parking lot, according to Auger.

The trophy will be coming from Vallejo. After San Rafael, it goes on to Richmond.

The last time the Giants won a World Series was in 1954 when they were a New York team and the legendary Willie Mays was a budding star. The San Francisco Giants lost the World Series in 1962, 1989 and 2002.
