San Rafael's Mroz Claims MCAL Golf's Top Honors

The senior at Branson High is distinguished for being both a winner and a gentleman when the league presents him the Player of the Year and Bobby Jones Sportsmanship awards.

San Rafael's , a senior at Branson High, was awarded the Marin County Athletic League's top two honors when the league announced its all-league golf teams Monday.

Mroz was named the MCAL Player of the Year and also claimed the MCAL Bobby Jones Sportsmanship Award.

The honors capped a sensational four-year run for the San Rafael native. After earning Honorable Mention honors as a freshman, Mroz had been a first-team all-league choice as a sophomore and junior before grabbing the ultimate honors this past season.

's and 's were voted onto the league's Honorable Mention list.

For Besson, a junior, that's three distinctions in three years on the Bulldogs team. He also was an Honorable Mention choice as a freshman before making the All-MCAL second team a year ago.

Named to the All-MCAL  first team for 2011 were Marin Catholic's Sean Beradi and AJ Martinez, Justin-Siena's Thomas McLendon and Jack Wilson, Branson's Carl Sennett and Tam's Ari Rieger.
