Lucchi, Williams Honored in MCAL Softball

Sluggers from Terra Linda High and San Rafael, respectively, voted onto the all-league first team; two other Trojans and two other Bulldogs also earn MCAL distinctions.

's and 's Brianna Williams both made the jump from Honorable Mention in 2010 to first team in 2011 when the Marin County Athletic League announced its all-league teams in girls softball Monday.

Surprisingly, Lucchi, a junior, was the only Trojan named to the first team despite the fact Terra Linda had the longest North Coast Section run among MCAL teams, reaching the section finals.

Terra Linda's, a first-team selection last year as a junior, and exciting leadoff hitter , a freshman, were voted onto the All-MCAL second team, along with San Rafael's , who earned the same distinction in 2010.

San Rafael's Sammie Mericle was an Honorable Mention choice.

Joining Lucchi and Williams on the All-MCAL first team were Tam's Kim Scarsella and Stephanie Lee, Redwood's Lindsey Matteo and Megan Atkinson, San Marin's Dani Albini and Gianna Bruschera, and Marin Catholic's Neika Petersen.

Redwood's Annie Boyer was selected as the Pitcher of the Year, while Justin-Siena's Hailey Breakwell earned Player of the Year honors for the second year in a row.
