Over 500 votes were cast, with the Spacemen gleaning 44 percent of the vote.

Some readers were concerned about the final five choices for the name, and so the team's owner, Centerfield Partners, Inc., decided to delay the announcement "in order to give full consideration of all the names submitted by fans and to assess some other names that have come to their attention since the deadline passed," Shapiro said.
