Best Lands Spot Among MCAL's Basketball Best

Senior earns all-league first-team distinction; the MCAL also honors San Rafael's Sterling Reed, Sam Brown and Kayla Coffee, as well as Terra Linda's Madison Tye.

High’s , the Marin County Athletic League’s second-leading scorer, rebounder and shot-blocker this past season, was selected to the all-league first team in a vote of the coaches.

Terra Linda junior was selected as an Honorable Mention choice among the girls.

San Rafael had three seniors honored: boys second-teamers and , and girls Honorable Mention pick .

Best, a senior, finished second to Player of the Year Stuart Wesonga of San Marin in scoring (19.2), rebounds (10.3) and blocked shots (3.9).

He was joined on the All-MCAL first team by Drake’s Joey Euphrat, Redwood’s Matt Mareno, San Marin’s Chris Glennon and Marin Catholic’s David Ahern.

San Rafael's Reed, meanwhile, was honored for his clutch shooting as much as his scoring (12.4) and assist (2.4) averages.

Brown ranked fifth in the league in rebounding at 6.2 per game and also found time to be the 12th-leading scorer (10.8).

Terra Linda's Tye was considered one of the league’s best defensive guards. She averaged 1.6 steals per game to go with 6.6 points.

Coffee contributed 7.2 points per game to San Rafael’s cause.

The All-MCAL first team for the girls featured Tam’s Jenna May, Justin-Siena’s Hailey Breakwell and Katherine Lee, Marin Catholic’s Emily Easom and San Marin’s Leeann Alferness.

Branson senior Liz Coito was selected Player of the Year.
