Students Hold Memorial for Victims in 'Every 15 Minutes'

At yesterday's assembly, San Rafael High School students read letters to their families as part of a program to prevent drinking and driving.

What if your child died in an alcohol related accident and you never got to say those things you wanted before he or she passed?

That's what some parents of San Rafael High School students wondered as a result of the Every 15 Minutes program -- an exercise where students experience a "real life" scenario of what happens after a drunk driving accident.

On April 5, some San Rafael High School students , where one student -- Pablo Hamlin -- "died" and three others -- Roberto Alvarez, Deigo Camarillo and Daniella Orellana -- were severely injured, The "drunk driver" Kayla Coffee was arrested.

At yesterday's assembly,  the students held a "memorial" for Hamlin, where students Stacy Magana, George Lamen and Diego Camarillo along with campus security officer Dustin Sharpe read letters addressed to their loved ones. Shamika Beroussard also recite a poem called "Death of an Innocent."
