40-hour Domestic Violence Advocate Training

Center for Domestic Peace, home of Marin Abused Women's Services, is happy to announce our upcoming CA State-certified 40-hour Domestic Violence Advocate Training on the following dates:

Tuesday, January 24, 2012 9 -- 5
Thursday, January 26, 2012 9 -- 5
Monday, January 30, 2012 9 -- 5
Wednesday, February 1, 2012 9 -- 3 (+ 2 hours homework)
Saturday, February 4, 2012 9 -- 5

BECOME A CERTIFIED DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ADVOCATE!
Through the 40-hour training program that Center for Domestic Peace offers, volunteers learn practical, hands-on skills in peer counseling,
crisis intervention, assessment, and advocacy for women.

• This training incorporates the most recent research and thinking in the field, and includes such topics as:
history of the battered woman's movement
analysis of patriarchy
other popular DV theories
why women stay
techniques for stopping violence
leadership for creating intentional communities of safety and justice.

• Volunteers completing Center for Domestic Peace's 40-hour training program become
State of California Certified Domestic Violence Counselors, as defined by the
Office of Justice Planning and mandated by Evidence Code 1037.1(a).

• This training program is offered approximately twice a year.

The 40-Hour training will allows you to volunteer at our organization in the following Volunteer Positions:*
Women's Emergency Hotline Advocate - Work from your home!
Women's Support Group Facilitator - Provide peer counseling for women in our support groups.
ManKind & WomanKind Batterer Intervention Program Class Facilitator

The training will take place at our office at 734 A Street, San Rafael, CA.

In order for us to hold the course, we must have at least 13 people completely registered and paid by January 17th, 2012. Therefore, if you are interested in taking the course, please fill out your registration form and arrange payment promptly to ensure that we have everyone signed up as soon as possible. If the training is cancelled for any reason, you will receive a full refund.

REGISTRATION:
To register, please fill out and return the registration form that can be found online at www.centerfordomesticpeace.org/volunteer. Otherwise, we would be happy to email you the registration form.

COST/PAYMENT:
The cost of the training is $300.00, with $75.00 refundable if you volunteer with us for 9 months or more. Payment may be made by check, credit card, cash, money order, or any combination of these methods. We would be happy to take your credit card details over the phone if you prefer. Payment plans can be set up through our office. Checks may be mailed to our office as follows:
