Dixie Elementary Fourth Grader Wins County Spelling Bee

Dixie Elementary fourth grader Annie Wang took first place in the Marin County Elementary Spelling Bee Championship this past Saturday.

Wang beat sixth grader Ashok Sundararaman from Sinaloa Middle School in Novato with the word “psalmist.”

Fourth, fifth and sixth grade Marin County public and private school students, all champions from previously held regional spelling bees, participated in championship on Saturday, Nov. 3 at the Marin County Office of Education.  

The third through fifth place winners were: 

• Flora Epstein, fifth grade,Coleman Elementary School, third place
• Jack O’Neill, fifth grade, Bel Aire Elementary School, fourth place
• Kevi Johnson, fifth grade, Vallecito Elementary School, fifth place 

The spelling bee program is coordinated by the Marin County Office of Education.
