The Marin 415 Mile Race

The Marin 415 five and one mile races were held in downtown San Rafael Sunday



The inaugural Marin 415 Mile event happened in downtown San Rafael on Sunday morning, July 21. The event featured a five mile race for all ages followed by a series of one mile heats that were broken up into age groups and men's and women's categories.

The Marin 415 five mile race started at 7:30 a.m. and the runners were finished before the first of the one mile races started at 9:00 a.m. There were 199 runners in the five mile race. Dominic Vogl, 27 of Novato finished first in the men's category in 29 minutes. Katie Fitzpatrick, 20 of Larkspur finished first in the women's category in 33 minutes.


There were younger competitors. The first youth to finish was Dustin Decker, 14 of Petaluma. A young Shreya Dusankar, 6 of Sunnyvale finished beside her mother Prayna, 40.

A total of 262 runners competed in various categories of the one mile races.
Eileen Brennan-Erler, 52 of San Rafael finished first in the women's senior 50 and over category. While Kevin Ostenberg, 52 of Newcastle, California finished first in the men's senior category.

In the Master Women's 40-49 category Sasha Blum, 40 of Walnut Creek finished first and Jim Sorensen, 46 of San Leandro finished first for the men.

In the Open Women's category 19-39 Ashley Carroll finished first and for the men's category was Michael Coe, 25 of Oakland. This was the second year that Coe has taken first place. Coe was also the fastest runner out of all the one mile runners. He finished in an impressive 4:09.

Announcer Josh Muxen kept the excitement levels up with his commentary and a DJ kept the mood lively. Race director J.T. Service said it was “almost a flawless day, just beautiful.” Service puts on running events across the bay with the company Represent Running was glad to be back in Marin. “I love seeing people running in downtown San Rafael,” said Service.
