Work will soon start on a new development at San Rafael’s Loch Lomond Marina six years after it was first proposed, the Marin Independent Journal is reporting.
Known as the Village, the development will have 81 residential units, 22,250 square feet of neighborhood commercial space, a grocery store and two new parks, according to the story. The project does not change the current marina berth and public launch operations.
The Village was highly controversial when it was first proposed in 2007, with residents concerned about density and impacts on traffic. This spring, Woodbridge Capital Partners purchased the property and will begin grading the site next week, according to the IJ.
Part of the work also includes cleaning up solvent on the eastern portion of the property. Construction is slated to be completed by 2016.
