Ritter Center Hopes to Expand Medical Clinic

The Planning Commission will hear a proposal to install a 933-square-foot trailer on the Ritter site.

Ritter Center, a San Rafael-based nonprofit that provides housing, food and support to Marin's homeless, is hoping to expand due to an increase in demand for medical services.

The Planning Commission will hear a proposal to install a 933-square-foot modular trailer to serve as a medical clinic. Faced with an increase in demand for their services, Ritter staff are hoping to take more cases due to the extra space, according to the staff report (available on the right).

In addition to medical services, Ritter offers a food pantry as well as showers, laundry, restrooms, mail and case management services. Approximately 130 clients visit the center each day, with around 15 clients appearing for medical services, according to Ritter staff.

With more space, the center hopes to increase the medical caseload to 20 people per day. The new trailer would be located next to an existing trailer, currently serving as the medical clinic, and would eliminate five on-site parking spots.

The Planning Commission will hear the proposal on Tuesday, Feb. 14 at . The meeting starts at 7p.m.
