New City Website Will Save $10K

In addition to a redesign, the new site's new cloud-based software will save the city $10,000 in maintenance and licensing fees and will be more accessible to users.

San Rafael’s new and improved city website was unveiled this past weekend.

In addition to a redesign, the new site’s new cloud-based software will save the city $10,000 in maintenance and licensing fees, according to the city’s Information Technology Manager Gus Bush.

“Initially the reason for updating the website was to make it easier to use for members of the public. But the new cloud-based software we're using will also save the city money and staff time,” he said.

Now the site will be easier to search, have language translation capabilities and an integrated streaming video of many public meetings.

“Anytime you can save the city money while at the same time adding transparency and facilitating participation in local government, you do it,” Mayor Al Boro said in a statement. “It’s a win-win.”
