Marin Center Getting Access Improvements

Barriers being removed.

The Marin County Department of Public Works is reconfiguring the parking area outside the Marin Center Exhibit Hall and Showcase Theatre in San Rafael to provide better access for disabled visitors.

The 35-year-old center at 10 Avenue of the Flags is the showcase for many Marin County Fair exhibits and the location for a variety of trade and other shows.

Saaid Fakharzadeh, assistant director of public works for the county, said the project includes landscaping and repaving to accommodate more accessible parking for disabled visitors.

"It has been in the works for a couple of years as part of the county's commitment to improve access and services," Fakharzadeh said. 

Work on tThe approximately $500,000 project is being done by Ghilotti Construction Co. of Santa Rosa. It is expected to be completed in about a month.
