Golden Gate Transit Service Cut

Local routes affected.

The Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District is cutting service beginning Monday in a plan to reduce a projected $132 million budget shortfall over the next five years.

The current recession has lessened revenues because ridership has dropped. In addition, state transit funding has been lost and the district is committed to providing $75 million toward the Doyle Drive reconstruction in San Francisco.

Route 44 will no longer operate on Lucas Valley Road west of Mount McKinley Road. Alternate service is available on route 27 at the San Rafael Transit Center. Riders may also use route 38 from Terra Linda and North San Pedro Road or use the route 58 bus pads at Terra Linda, Lucas Valley and Marinwood.
