West Marin Toxic Away Day

On Saturday, May 12 from 9am to 1pm, bring your residential household hazardous waste to the Pt. Reyes Fire Station on the corner of 4th and B Streets in Point Reyes Station for safe and free disposal.

This event requires an appointment to responsibly dispose of your household hazardous waste.  Some examples of the types of waste that will be collected are old computer monitors, household batteries, paints, stains, thinners, fertilizers, pesticides, adhesives, motor oil, antifreeze, pool chemicals, and household cleaners.  No commercial waste will be accepted.

Residents can bring a total of 15 gallons of liquid waste or 125 pounds of dry waste.

For an appointment, call 1-800-207-8222 and press 0 to speak to an operator or leave a message.   Space is limited to a 40 car maximum.

This Free Toxic Away Day is sponsored by the Marin County Solid and Hazardous Waste Joint Powers Authority, the City of San Rafael Fire Department, Marin County Fire Department, and Marin Recycling.  If you are unable to participate in the drop off event, the City of San Rafael also has a permanent Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Facility open to residents of Marin County, with proof of residency, excluding Novato.  The HHW Facility is located at 565 Jacoby Street and is open Tuesday- Saturday from 8 am – 3:30 pm.
