Outer Space from Open Space

Join Marin County Parks rangers Rich, Charlie and Greg and astronomer Larry Brodkin to view the autumn constellations and deep sky objects from Mount Burdell in Novato. After a short hike to Van Note Meadow (a great dark spot), we’ll settle in to watch the evening sky explode into a stargazing adventure and learn about the colorful legends above looking through the lens of an 8 inch Meade telescope. Any and all amateur astronomers are welcome and encouraged to bring their telescopes. Stargazers should wear warm, layered clothes and bring binoculars or a telescope, a flashlight, a blanket, water, snacks and star charts. Meet at the San Andreas Trailhead.

Directions:From Hwy 101 in Novato, take the Atherton Ave/San Marin Dr exit, head west on San Marin Dr, and turn right at San Andreas Dr. We’ll meet at the San Andreas trailhead.

Rain cancels all outdoor events, high wind cancels aquatic events, and high fire danger cancels events on affected open space preserves. Questions: Call (415) 507-2816.
