The county of Marin is looking for candidates to fill an open spot on the local Human Rights Commission.
According to the county, the role of the group is to advise the board of supervisors on complaints received by the public about violations of human or civil rights.
"It investigates, studies and initiates action to resolve problems," according to the county's website. "The Commission has responsibility for working to eliminate prejudice and discrimination and for fostering attitudes which will lead to civic peace and inter-group relations."
The commission-- which is made up of a total of nine people-- meets monthly at the Marin County Civic Center. The deadline to apply for the open spot is March 7, at 5 p.m.
