8:42 p.m. Staff recommends requiring additional legislative support from the City Council for any excess payments to retirees. City Council approved the resolution.

8:37 pm. In the past few years, San Rafael has lost 60 staff positions, and recently labor groups recently agreed to a 4 percent pay cut.

8:34 p.m. One suggestion for pension changes were changes in the benefit plans, which the San Rafael City Council .

8:34 p.m. San Rafael employees pay about 11 percent to the pension system, Schutz said.

8:30 p.m. Assistant City Manager Jim Schutz said costs have been increasing and there's been investment loss due to the recession.

8:07 p.m. Robert Ernst says his wife cannot stay in their house due to health problems with SmartMeters. He, along with about 10 others, asked the City Council to continue their vigilance against Pacific Gas and Electric regarding installing more SmartMeters.

7:57 p.m. Bad news everyone, City Manager Nancy Mackle just told me that the discussion on pro baseball for Albert Field has been postponed until Sept. 19. Just pensions now. But stay tuned for more updates.
