Will take place during week of Oct. 11

California gubernatorial candidates Meg Whitman and Jerry Brown have both confirmed they will accept an invitation from Dominican University of California to participate in a debate the week of Oct. 11.

Whitman, the Republican candidate, confirmed today that she will participate in three debates against Democratic Attorney General Brown in Northern California. The first is Sept. 28 at UC Davis.

In addition to accepting Dominican's invitation, Whitman agreed to join a debate in Fresno in October.

The university has not determined who will be invited or whether there will be a cost. It is considering televising the event at a larger location like the campus amphitheater, Albee said.

Brown had challenged Whitman to 10 debates and forums around the state.
