Two Ex-Drake Football Players Among Four Mill Valley Burglary Suspects Arrested

One of the suspects is Nicolo Giacomini, a member of a prominent Marin County family.

Two former Drake High football players were arrested for allegedly burglarizing a Mill Valley home and shoving a female resident to the ground when she interrupted the heist, authorities said.

Nicolo “Nico” Giacomini and Lorenzo Cook are among four suspects – three men and one juvenile – who allegedly hit a Reed Circle home in the Strawberry Area early Thursday afternoon, sheriff’s Lt. Jamie Scardina said.

Giacomini, 18 of San Geronimo, and 18-year-old Lorenzo Cook of San Anselmo, were arrested on suspicion of robbery, burglary, receiving stolen property, possession of burglary tools and conspiracy, Scardina said.

The other suspects, Jabari Bryant, 18 of San Francisco, and a San Francisco juvenile, were arrested on the same charges, Scardina said.

Giacomini and Cook were teammates on Drake High’s football team last year. Both graduated earlier this year.

Giacomini also played on the basketball team. He was a role player on a Pirates team that won the Marin County Athletic League championship with a 14-0 record.

Giacomini is listed on last year’s basketball roster as a 6-foot-2 230-pound forward/center according to Maxpreps.com. Cook is listed as a 210-pounder on last year’s football roster.

Giacomini is a member of a prominent Marin County family that includes former longtime county supervisor Gary Giacomini.

Gary Giacomini is listed as a partner at Hanson Bridgett, a San Francisco law firm.

Nicolo Giacomini lists Hanson Bridget as an employer on his Facebook page.

A search for the four suspects began after the interrupted burglary was reported to the Marin County Sheriff’s Office at about 1:35 p.m., Scardina said.

The female victim provided descriptions of all four suspects who ran way from the scene, leaving behind a vehicle parked in front of the home, Scardina said.

Additional witnesses helped deputies locate the suspects.

Police officers from departments in Tiburon, Mill Valley, Belvedere, and Sausalito helped authorities track down all four suspects.

One adult suspect was found under the deck of a Richardson Drive residence. The three others were found running on Greenwood Cove Road in Tiburon, Scardina said.

During a search of the abandoned vehicle authorities found stolen property from a residence that had been burglarized an hour earlier on Seminary Drive in Mill Valley, Scardina said.

The property allegedly stolen from both the Reed Circle and Seminary Drive locations consisted of jewelry and electronics, Scardina said.

The three adult suspects were booked into Marin County jail and the juvenile into Marin County Juvenile Hall, Scardina said.

Giacomini was bailed out, according a Marin Independent Journal report.

Cook and Bryant are in custody on $75,000 bail, according to the Marin County Sheriff’s Office online booking log.

Giacomini’s online trail doesn’t quite fit the profile of a residential burglary suspect.

He is listed as a 2009 Geronimo Valley Community Center food bank volunteer.

Giacomini created a short YouTube clip with a Drake classmate on how to avoid malaria in 2010.

The next year he published an online essay on the history of the San Francisco Giants from their move to the Bay Area to their 2010 World Series title.
