Trader Joe's Fraud, Handgun Returned and $5,000 in Gold Jewelry Stolen

The Marin County Sheriff's Department reports for July 28 - Aug. 1 include incidents in Santa Venetia, Marinwood and San Rafael.

 

July 28

10:12 a.m. – A resident of the 100 block of Meriam Dr. in Santa Venetia reported that someone had broken into the home by forcing open the back door through the pet door while they were away on vacation, stealing $5,000 in gold jewelry.

10:27 p.m. – A driver reported seeing a man wearing a brown plaid hoodie hanging over the side railing along Hwy. 101 north of Lincoln Ave., possibly tagging the wall with graffiti. A Sheriff’s deputy was unable to locate the man.

July 29

9:06 p.m. – A personal organizing consultant who was doing some work for an elderly resident in the 200 block of Tiburon Blvd. called in a request to turn in a handgun and some ammunition. The man’s legal guardian gave the organizer permission to keep the gun but she preferred to turn it into law enforcement.

July 30

4:28 p.m. – A resident of Farm Road reported that he got into an argument with a man who was doing some work for him at his home, and the worker walked off. The man pushed the resident as he was walking out the door. The man was not injured. A deputy was unable to locate the man.

7:22 p.m. – A resident of Mt Lassen Drive reported that he was contacted by Trader Joe’s and told that someone used his information to create a checking account at Chase Bank and wrote a check at one of the grocery store chain’s locations in Los Angeles.

July 31

12:50 p.m. – A caller said a juvenile keyed his car on Labrea Way. His daughter witnessed it and there’s an ongoing problem with the subject bullying his children.

Aug. 1

5:19 a.m. – A 75-year-old Marinwood woman couldn’t get her husband off the floor, who fell when he was trying to get out of bed and didn’t have the strength to walk.

1:35 p.m. – A Huckleberry Road resident reported that her gardener had his blower and trimmer stolen from the back of his gardening truck. The reporting person said her neighbor heard a truck stop and speed away.

1:22 p.m. – A woman at Labrea Way and Rosal Way wants to speak to a deputy for advice regarding a dispute with her sister. She will be sitting on a fire hydrant on the corner waiting. Deputy gave her a ride back to her hotel.

6:04 p.m. – Report of two juveniles of the roof of the school at the Mary E Silveira Elementary School at 375 Blackstone Drive.
