Three People Arrested in San Rafael DUI Checkpoint

By Bay City News Service:

San Rafael police conducted a DUI and driver's license checkpoint this weekend that netted three arrests.

Police screened 1,612 vehicles on Point San Pedro Road east of Mooring Road between 6 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. Friday, according to police.

Police said one suspect was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of cannabis, and two people were arrested for driving with suspended licenses.

Three unlicensed drivers were cited and released.

Police said more patrols will be conducted throughout the area this weekend and Monday for Cinco de Mayo.

What happens when someone without a license is cited and released? How does one know the true name, address or even collect a fine? Why are unlicensed drivers released? Didn't they break a law and put other drivers in danger?

So with all that manpower and equipment they didn't get one drunk driver, but one impaired driver 1 in 1620. I think they would have gotten more if they had all those officers in cars driving in the more active area's. Just driving that night I saw plenty of weaving drivers.

i am curious, why did they need ten or more officers?

Lynn, nothing happens, San Rafael is a Sanctuary.

Silly me, I thought a sanctuary was a holy place, set apart to honor God - not for lawlessness.
