Swarm of San Rafael Police Search for Suspected Shooter

Witnesses said a man fired a handgun into the air near Highway 101 and downtown San Rafael.

 

Nine San Rafael Police officers swarmed a San Rafael neighborhood Tuesday night in response to a report of a gunshot fired near Highway 101. 

The incident occurred at 8:15 p.m. on Pacheco Street, which runs between Lincoln Avenue and Highway 101.

“The reporting party initially said that someone shot at him, but when contacted by officers he changed that to hearing a gunshot and seeing a subject running from the area,” said San Rafael Police Spokesperson Margo Rohrbacher.

Officers searched the area thoroughly, Rohrbacher said, but couldn’t find the suspect or any evidence.

“Other witnesses described a black male dressed in black who fired a handgun up in the air and ran from the area,” she said.
