Suspected Burglar Tells Cops He Wants to Go to Jail

A local man was arrested on suspicion of burglary and petty theft.

San Rafael police arrested a local man suspected of stealing shorts from on Thursday, according to police spokesman Charly Taylor.

David Norman Baty, 52, was booked in on charges of burglary and petty theft. His bail is $15,000.

At approximately 10:07 a.m. on July 19, Baty allegedly walked in to Macy’s at Northgate Mall, took a few pairs of shorts and attempted to leave without paying. When security confronted him, he told them to call the police because he “wanted to go to jail anyway,” Taylor said.

The police located him at and he was taken in to custody.
