SRPD Joins Nationwide Crackdown on Impaired Driving

For the next two weeks, three checkpoints will be operating throughout Marin County.

Over the next two weeks, three sobriety and driver’s license checkpoints and several DUI saturation patrols are planned all over Marin County as part of a nationwide crackdown on drunken driving, according to the .

“All too often, innocent, law-abiding people suffer tragic consequences and the loss of loved ones due to this careless disregard for human life,” Interim Police Chief Jeff Franzini said. “Our message is simple and unwavering: if we find you driving impaired, we will arrest you.”

Here are the days and cities checkpoints are scheduled:

  • San Anselmo, Aug. 27 from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. Traffic will be screened westbound on Red Hill Avenue to Ancho Vista Avenue.
  • San Rafael, Sept. 1 from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. Location has not been determined.
  • San Rafael, Sept. 2 from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. Location has not been determined.
  • Novato, Sept. 3 time and location to be determined.


There will also be roving patrols on the look out for impaired drivers throughout the County on various evenings from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Marin County will be joining 10,000 other law enforcement agencies throughout the United States in support of the crackdown.
