4:35 a.m. – Sheriff’s deputies were called to the 80 block of Sydney Court near the San Pedro Mountain Open Space Preserve on a report that there were dogs barking loudly in the area for the past 15 minutes. A deputy went to the area and determined that the barking was actually howling and was coming from several coyotes running through backyards in the area and up the Oxford hill. There were a number of other coyotes in the distance, possibly enjoying that night’s full moon.

9:13 a.m. – A resident called Sheriff’s dispatch to report that the doors were unlocked at a home in the 100 block of Oak Drive off of Point San Pedro Rd., and that a number of items were stolen, including a large amount of cash and jewelry. The resident said she was not staying at the house right now but that a number of juveniles had access to the home via the caller’s granddaughter. Deputies spotted three large marijuana plants growing in the backyard.
