San Rafael Traffic Stop Results in Warrant Arrest for Alleged Sex Crime

Man was wanted for past 18 months following sex-with-minor allegation.

A traffic stop Friday afternoon in San Rafael led to the arrest of a man wanted on a sex charge from 18 months earlier, police said Saturday.

Milton Audel Mejia, 25, of San Rafael was arrested at 1:33 p.m. near the intersection of Bellam Boulevard and Francisco Boulevard East, said Sgt. Lisa Holton. Mejia, pulled over for a traffic violation, was arrested when the officer found Mejia had a warrant out for his arrest stemming from a February 2010 incident in the 100 block of Canal Street.

Mejia, who listed his occupation as recycling, was booked at 2:05 p.m. at Marin County Jail and faces a charge of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor. He was being held without bail.
