San Rafael Street Shooting Probed

A 21-year-old man was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

Police in San Rafael are investigating a late morning shooting in the Canal neighborhood that left a man hospitalized, authorities said.

The 21-year-old victim suffered non-life threatening injuries in an attack on the 400 block of Bahia Lane that was reported at 11:29 a.m., San Rafael Police Department Spokeswoman Margo Rohrbacher said.

The shooting occurred outside, Rohrbacher said. The victim, who lives nearby by, was home when police arrived.

Little is known about the suspects or possible motive for the attack, Rohrbacher said. It was not clear whether the victim was the intended target.

Police shut down the area for several hours while investigators collected evidence and interviewed witnesses.

“We don’t have any suspect description or anything beyond that and we don’t know the motive,”  Rohrbacher said.
