The driver stopped immediately and has cooperated with investigators, Rohrbacher said.

Marin County sheriff’s deputies who happened to be on the scene administered first aid until paramedics arrived.

Traub was pronounced dead at the scene, Rohrbacher said.

Traub is a former Greenbrae resident. He was in the area visiting friends, Rohrbacher said.

“We talked to witnesses but there are probably more people who saw the accident who we have not spoken to,” Rohrbacher said.

Anyone with who witnessed this accident and has not yet spoken to authorities is asked to call the San Rafael Police Department at (415) 485-3000.
