San Rafael Police Search for Suspects in Shooting

Last night, a man was shot near Canal Street after being asked his gang affiliation.

San Rafael police officers are looking for suspects in a shooting at 400 Canal St. on March 10.

Police officers responded to shots fired at 400 Canal St. at 9:23 p.m. where they found a victim of a single gunshot wound to the buttocks. He was taken to Marin General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A second victim was slashed with a knife in the chest, but was not injured, according to Sgt. Jim Correa.

According to the officers’ investigation, the victim was targeted after being asked what gang he was with. The victim is not believed to be associated with any gang.

Officers are now searching for the suspects, who were last seen running west on Canal Street toward Hoag Street. Descriptions are not available.
