San Rafael Police Release Subway Robbery Footage

The SRPD are looking to the public to identify a robbery suspect.

The San Rafael Police Department released security footage of a suspect brandishing a handgun and stealing $400 from a restaurant on Bellam Boulevard on May 27.

Last Friday, at approximately 4:44 p.m. a man walked in to the restaurant and ordered two sandwiches. When he came to the cash register, , placed it on the counter and told the cashier to give him the money, Subway Manager Bill Singh said.

“He seemed normal and no one really noticed what was happening,” he said. Another customer and three small kids were in the restaurant at the time, but “they didn’t really notice anything,” according to Singh.

After taking the money, the man fled and was last seen heading toward Andersen Drive. San Rafael police officers searched the area, and could not locate the suspect, according to Sgt. Rick Clary.

"We suspect he might've had a getaway car since he got two sandwiches," Clary said.
Singh was on his break when the event occurred, but he said he was able to see the suspect on the security tape.
