San Rafael Police Arrest Suspected Palo Alto Stalker

San Rafael police officers arrested a Palo Alto man on suspicion of stalking a local family for two years.

San Rafael police officers arrested a Palo Alto man on April 4 on suspicion of stalking a San Rafael family for the past two years, according to Cpl. Eberle.

John C. Singleton, 47, met the victim in 2009, according to Eberle. After a falling out, authorities said Singleton began stalking the victim and his family over the Internet and telephone.

“The victim and his family had lived in fear for their lives over the past couple years, investing in a new security system and extra flood lights,” Eberle said in the press release.  They also sought a restraining order against Singleton.

San Rafael police officers arrested Singleton after he entered an Apple Store in Palo Alto, where he is believed to use the free Internet access to stalk the family.

He was booked at Marin County Jail on felony charges of stalking. His bail is set at $100,000. He will appear at Marin County Superior Court today at 1:30 p.m.
