San Rafael Police Arrest Novato Man on Suspicion of Possessing a Gun, Child Endangerment

Amari Levelle Folsom was booked in Marin County Jail after an officer detained him at gunpoint in San Rafael's Canal neighborhood Friday.

San Rafael police arrested a Novato man after an officer detained him at gunpoint in the Canal neighborhood Friday evening.

Amari Folsom, 18, was booked in on Dec. 9 on charges of possessing a concealed loaded handgun and endangering a child.

At approximately 6:30 p.m. Friday, Lt. Raffaello Pata was patrolling the Canal neighborhood when he saw Folsom walking with two girls, ages 14 and 15, on Novato Street. As Pata approached the group, they attempted to separate and then Pata heard a loud bang, according to the .

Pata inspected the bed of a nearby pickup truck that was parked between him and Folsom, and saw a loaded handgun. Pata then detained Folsom at gunpoint until back up officers arrived.

The girls were returned to the their parents.

Folsom's bail is set at $50,000.
