San Rafael Marijuana Dispensary Closes after Investigation

Officials serve search warrant on facility.

A search warrant was served on the Tree of Life medical marijuana dispensary in connection with a four-month investigation by drug agents from the Marin County Major Crimes Task Force and several other North Bay law enforcement agencies.

The Tree of Life at 292B North San Pedro Road had a sign in the window early Friday saying it was closed until further notice.

According to the Solano County Sheriff's office, warrants were served at six places in connection with the investigation.

Solano Sheriff's Lt. Gary Faulkner said three people were arrested.

He said Novato resident Cindy Harris, 42, faces multiple charges of marijuana sales, plus possession of marijuana for sale and conspiracy. Sebastopol residents Chad Grimm, 24, and Jennifer Ryan, 26, face charges of possession of marijuana for sale and conspiracy.

All three people were booked into the Solano County Jail.

Faulkner said there is no evidence that the Tree of Life was selling marijuana to people who don't have medical marijuana prescriptions.

The dispensary was opened earlier this year in an unincorporated area not far from the Marin County Civic Center.

Code enforcement officials have been looking into it as an illegal business because medical cannabis dispensaries are not allowed in the county. A code enforcement hearing is scheduled for Nov. 17.

"They did say they operated under the guidelines of the attorney general," said Cristy Stanley, a county code enforcement officer.  "They said they verify the recommendation with the physician."

In addition to Marin authorities, the investigation was conducted by the Vacaville Police Department, the Fairfield Police Department, the Napa County Special Investigations Bureau, the Sonoma County Narcotics Unit and the Mendocino County Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement.
