San Rafael Man, Three Others Held After Brawl

Attack took place on College of Marin campus.

An 18-year-old man was hospitalized and five people were arrested
in connection with an attack at the College of Marin's Kentfield campus
Tuesday, the campus police chief said.

At about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, campus police responded to a report
of a fight in progress at the school's science center, police Chief Charles
Lacy said. The campus is located at 835 College Ave. in unincorporated
Kentfield.

Officers arriving in the area saw a handful of people running away
from the scene and were eventually able to arrest five suspects in connection
with the attack, Lacy said.

The suspects allegedly jumped the 18-year-old victim and another
person. The 18-year-old, a Sausalito resident, was taken to a local hospital
with a laceration to his eye and was released later Tuesday, according to
Lacy. The second person was not injured.

Damien Hill-Crowder, 18, Thomas Judson, 21, and Eli Thompson, 20,
all Marin City residents, were arrested on suspicion of assault and battery.
A fourth suspect, Sheldon Williams, 24, of San Rafael, was arrested on
suspicion of assault, Lacy said.

A fifth suspect was cited for battery and later released.

Lacy said police were still investigating the attack and trying to
determine a motive.

"It's very rare for this kind of thing to happen on our campus,
and we were fortunate to have a speedy response and get the cooperation of
other students," he said.

The four suspects in custody are being held on $50,000 bail,
according to Lacy.
