San Rafael Man Suspected of Novato Wells Fargo Bank Robbery

San Rafael resident was arrested early this morning in connection with the bank robbery last Tuesday inside a Novato Safeway store.

After fleeing from police, a 36-year-old San Rafael man was arrested this morning on suspicion of robbing the Wells Fargo Bank located inside a Novato Safeway store on Diablo Avenue on June 12.

According to a news release, Kevin Andrew Drummond was located at his home at in the 500 block of Tamarack Drive in San Rafael by officers from the Novato and San Rafael police departments.

After making contact with the occupants in the home, police say Drummond fled the residence and was located a short distance away, in the 900 block of Las Pavadas. Officers had set up a perimeter around the home and captured the suspect within minutes, said Sergeant Jennifer Welch of the Novato PD.

The arrest time was made at 12:50 a.m., according to the jail booking log.

In the June 12 robbery, the suspect reportedly approached a teller at the Wells Fargo Bank inside the Safeway store and provided her with a note demanding money. The teller complied, and the suspect left the bank. The suspect did not display a weapon.

Drummond was booked into the on suspicion of robbery and is being held on $75,000 bail.
