San Rafael Man Critically Injured at 49ers - Raiders Game

Man was reportedly badly beaten inside Candlestick Park restroom.

A San Rafael man suffered life-threatening injures from a beating in a restroom at Candlestick Park in one of many violent incidents during a game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Oakland Raiders, according to San Francisco police.

The unidentified 26-year-old man was assaulted during the preseason football game, Sgt. Michael Andraychak said. Andraychak said they do not release the names or any identifying characteristics of the victims. The man was knocked unconscious, and was taken to San Francisco General suffering life-threatening injuries.

As of Sunday afternoon, he was still in serious condition according to hospital officials, the police said.

Police have reported that they have arrested a suspect in this incident. Officers were initially searching for a suspect described as a Samoan/Pacific Islander male, 25-30 years old, between 6 foot 3 inches and 6 foot 5 inches tall, weighing 225 to 260 pounds. He had a goatee and long curly hair tied up in a pony tail, and was last seen wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans.

The attack occurred shortly before an 8 p.m. shooting in the stadium parking lot that injured two men. One of the victims, a 24-year-old male, suffered life-threatening injuries. The man was wearing a "F--- the 49ers" shirt, according to the San Francisco ChronicleNo suspect has yet been identified in the shootings.

Andraychak said he did not know if the victims were in the parking lot due to the game, or if they were Raiders or 49ers fans. A man wearing a Raiders t-shirt, who was pulled off of a party bus, is considered a suspect in the shooting, according to a story on KGO-TV.

Police also said they don't know if the beating and shootings were related, though they don't believe they were at this time. There were a number of other fights throughout the game.
