San Rafael Man Accused in Sausalito Boat Heist

Police saw suspect carrying an outboard engine stolen from an inflatable boat.

A San Rafael man was arrested Monday on suspicion of stealing an inflatable boat and motor from Sausalito, according to Sausalito police.

On Monday at 1:42 a.m. a Sausalito man called police and named another man he believed had stolen his Zodiac Zoom inflatable boat and 15-horsepower outboard motor, police said. The caller said that David Moses, 42, was the thief, police said.

About 30 minutes later, officers located Moses walking near Dunphy Park, located near Bridgeway and Bee Street, police said. When officers tried to stop him, Mosses allegedly fled on foot toward 30 Liberty Ship Way and officers were unable to find him.

As officers investigated the theft, they learned Moses' skiff was tied up at the Turney Street boat ramp, just a few blocks past Dunphy Park, and headed that way.

At 4:49 p.m. an officer spotted Moses at the boat ramp carrying the stolen outboard, according to police.

Moses was taken into custody without incident and charged with possessing stolen property, obstructing a police officer and for violating probation, police said. He was booked into Marin County Jail on $10,000 bail.

It would be nice if the comments section had "Thumbs up / Thumbs down" like the PressRead More Democrat.

We have been to Pet Emergency a few times with various animals over the years, and they areRead More absolutely FANTASTIC! Top quality medical care, and a very caring and compassionate staff. I can't say that I look forward to going there (sick pets are always difficult), but I am sure glad they are here for us when we need them!
