San Rafael Firefighters Make Quick Work of Vegetation Blaze

A barbecue at an encampment likely sparked the blaze, authorities said.

San Rafael firefighters this afternoon made quick work of a vegetation fire at an encampment likely sparked by a barbecue, Fire Chief Chris Gray said.

Firefighters under Battalion Chief Paul Crimmins’ command responded a report of the fire at about 2:30 p.m. in some open space on a parcel just east of the 2900 block of Kerner Boulevard, Gray said.

The blaze was confined to a quarter of an acre, Gray said. No injuries were reported.
