Officer Fired for Pulling Gun on Restaurant Patron Last Year

SRPD fired Michael Augustus on May 17, following accusations that he pulled his gun on two men while off-duty.

A San Rafael police officer was fired on May 17 after accusations that he pulled his gun on a restaurant patron in Petaluma last year, according to police spokeswoman Margo Rohrbacher.

Michael Augustus, who’s been an officer with SRPD for 16 years, was arrested by Petaluma police on Dec. 31 for in an altercation with two men outside on Petaluma Boulevard. He was off-duty at the time.

Augustus was and was put on administrative leave after the incident. According to NBC Bay Area Local, his lawyers intend to fight his termination and say that he pulled his weapon in self-defense.
