Police Hunt for Two Purse Snatchers

Police are on the look out for two men suspected of assaulting a woman and stealing her purse in downtown San Rafael last night.

Police are searching for two men suspected of assaulting a woman and stealing her purse in downtown San Rafael last night.

At approximately 8:30p.m., the victim felt two men tugging on her purse as she was walking near at 703 Third St. One man punched her in the face, causing her to fall and other kicked her in the stomach, according to police officer Dennis Prince.

The two men, described as two black males wearing baggie black clothing, fled on foot. The victim lost consciousness for a short time following the assault, Prince said.

When she awoke, she found her purse a block away a short time later.

"The victim reported that her face was sore and her shirt was torn but she did not require medical attention," Lt. Dan Fink said.
