Police Collect Almost 150 Pounds of Prescription Drugs

Around 150 pounds of prescription drugs and over-the-counter medications were collected this Saturday.

Nearly 150 pounds of prescription drugs and over-the-counter medications were collected during Saturday’s Take-Back RX event, according to police spokeswoman Margo Rohrbacher.

The hosted the DEA sponsored event at City Hall and people were already arriving prior to the 10 a.m. start time. Various pharmaceuticals filled five collections boxes, for a total of 148 pounds.

"The drop-off program was very well received, with many residents expressing their appreciation for the opportunity to clear out their medicine cabinets and easily dispose of the contents," she said in a statement.

Another Take-Back Day is planned for sometime in the fall.
